With another strong episode behind them, WWWS settles into its latest instalment with the sort of assurance that comes from having done this often enough to know where the microphones are and, occasionally, what they're supposed to be saying. Season 3 continues to deliver, and the show remains firmly committed to its self-appointed position as The Last Great Podcast Of The Modern Era. Nobody has asked for proof lately, which is probably for the best. First up, Would Anyone Miss It? returns, although getting the segment underway proves to be a bit more difficult than expected. Big Uke briefly loses track of what the segment is actually about, prompting a little confusion, some increasingly testy exchanges, and a reminder that even the simplest of formats can become surprisingly complicated in the wrong hands. Eventually, the show finds its way back on track. Mostly. Then it's time to revisit The Classifieds, where old newspaper advertisements offer a glimpse into the needs, ambitions, and occasionally peculiar priorities of people from another time. The language may have changed, but the willingness to put just about anything in print appears to be timeless. Tubesox then takes a look at The Monuments Men (2014), the historical drama about the Allied effort to recover artwork stolen by the Nazis during the Second World War. It's a story involving art, history, and an important mission. Tubesox has his own assessment of how well the film manages to bring it all together, and naturally, that assessment is open to discussion. Finally, 3 Things That Can Kick Rocks brings the episode to its customary conclusion, with three more items that have managed to attract the hosts' attention for all the wrong reasons. Some things simply need to be said. Everyday essentials. Newspaper curiosities. A cinematic assessment. Three things that have worn out their welcome. The season keeps rolling, the format keeps working, and the show continues to make a rather convincing argument for its own importance. Keep your expectations low.
